1.     To speed up the calculation time for this report, go to the Invoice browse screen and use the Column Chooser to not show any columns you don’t need for the report.
2.     Create an Invoice Filter for the time period you want to look at.
 a.  Go to Filter Builder under the Tools menu.
 b.  Click to Add a new filter.
 c.  Type in a meaningful description.
 d.  Choose Invoice as the Filter Type.
 e.  In the Criteria box, click on the first asterisk on the Records where line and choose Invoices and then Invoice Date.
 f.  change the "is equal to" to "is greater than"
 g.  click on the last asterisk and it changes into a field where you can type a date.  Choose a date just outside the range of what you want.  For example, if you want 2009 invoices, type in 12/31/2008 and hit Enter.  If the date is recognized as a date by the interface, it will surround it with # signs.
 h. click on the 3 dot button at the beginning of the line and choose to add a new elementary condition.
 i.  Choose Invoice Date again for the filed, but make the "is equal to" to "is less than" and then type in the ending date.  For 2009, use 01/01/2010.
 j.  Click Ok to save your filter and then close out of the filter builder list.
3.     Go to the Invoice browse screen and choose Filter in the Search By drop down.  Then choose your filter.
4.     Click on the Group by button in the Customize section of the ribbon.
5.    Drag the Last Name column header into the Group by area.
6.    Click the Show Totals button.
7.    You can print the screen like this or Export to Excel for further sorting/analyzing.
