Our development teams are busy working on the new Spectra 2014 version. We’re excited about the new enhancements coming next year!
However, we are officially announcing that, with the release of Spectra 2014, StudioPlus will no longer support the Windows XP or Windows Vista operating systems. Much of the newer technology we are working on simply requires more modern operating systems.
In addition, most major software providers have already made similar announcements. Microsoft® has announced that it will no longer support Windows XP as of April 2014. Adobe® has announced that Photoshop® CS6 will be the last product to support Windows XP.
So what does this mean for current Spectra users? Here are a couple key points:
- Any version of Spectra prior to 2014 will continue to run just fine on Windows XP.
- If you remain on Spectra 2013 or before, you will be able to get LIMITED Windows XP support from our technical staff.
- It is possible that Spectra 2014 may run fine with the Windows XP operating system. However, we will NOT be performing any testing on Windows XP and can make no guarantees that it will work. UPDATE: After further development, it has been determined that Spectra 2014 will not be capable of running on Windows XP.
The bottom line is, now is the time to upgrade to Windows 7 or Windows 8. Both of these operating systems have proven to be stable and productive. Windows XP is 12 years old this year. In computer years, that’s pretty old!
